Carlos Jaramillo studies patterns of plant diversity and investigates their relations to climate change. As a paleobotanist (someone who studies ancient plants) at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, his research focuses on the evolution of tropical landscapes and its biota throughout geological history.
