Juan Carlos Andrade

Juan Carlos Andrade is the project manager at the Mexico City-based nonprofit INNOVEC, which promotes and applies inquiry-based science education programs in Mexican elementary and middle schools. At INNOVEC, Mr. Andrade coordinates the design and planning of teacher-training workshops to facilitate their use of a hands-on science curriculum in Mexican schools, with an emphasis on biology, chemistry and physics. He also serves as liaison with private sector partners, foundations, research institutes and local governments to raise support and awareness for high-quality science education for Mexican primary school students. Mr. Andrade, a biologist and environmental scientist, was recognized in 2011 by the U.S. Department of State as an international leader in STEM education. Invited to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program, he was able to visit many organizations and regions throughout the United States to learn about a variety of science- and technology-related initiatives.
