Benjamin has been working with Orchids and other rare plants and communities for more than 25 years. He has conducted ecological studies of plant diversity in global diversity hotspots ranging from the Micronesia to the Caribbean. His botanical research has led him to explore unique habitats including the tundra of northern Alaska and the cloud forests of Costa Rica to explore the effects of environmental change on plant communities. Crain’s current research interests are in rare orchid conservation and in the effects of community-driven conservation efforts.
