Dr. Gary Graves of the Department of Vertebrate Zoology, National Museum of Natural History, is conducting conservation research on the Swainson's Warbler, a threatened migratory bird that breeds in the United States and winters in Jamaica. The program was initiated in 1994 as the result of a 'debt-for-nature' swap that preserved the wintering habitat of the birds in the Blue Mountains and John Crow Mountains National Park.
