Discover Kazakhstan: The Expeditions of Chokan Valikhanov

This online exhibition begins a multi-year project designed to present the scientific accomplishments of Chokan Valikhanov. Smithsonian experts visited Syrymbet, North Kazakhstan province, to collect materials about Shokan Valikhanov for the virtual exhibit. Smithsonian visitors conducted a workshop for some 50 employees of local museums and the provincial akimat on modern ways to manage museums and new technologies used in American museums. The workshop took place at the Zhumabayev Library in Kokshetau.
