Global Genome Initiative: Biodiversity Surveys in Lenya National Park

Through SI’s Global Genome Initiative, and in collaboration with Fauna and Flora International and the Myanmar Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF), Smithsonian teams worked with colleagues in Myanmar to conduct surveys in Herpetology (Dan Mulcahy), Entomology (Bonnie Blaimer), and freshwater invertebrates (John Slapcinsky, Florida Museum of Natural History), collecting many hundreds of specimens.

Many of these specimens are now being barcoded as a part of the Smithsonian’s Global Genome Initiative.
